CLARA A. JORGENSEN
Obituary
Clara A. Jorgensen, 104, a long-time resident of the Volusia County area, passed away January 12, 2010. She was born on September 1, 1905 in Denmark. She relocated to Wisconsin during her 20's, learned English, obtained a license in hairdressing and moved to New York to pursue her career. During a trip back to her native land via an ocean liner, she met her late husband Vilhelm, who she convinced to join her in the beauty industry. With both of them having a license, they opened their own beauty salon in Manhasset, NY which they ran for 30 years. In their late 50's, they retired and traveled in many circles and to various places to discover all this world had to offer. They relocated to New Smyrna Beach in 1970 and to Bishops Glen in 1998. They were members of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Smyrna Beach where Clara was actively involved in the Alter Society, the choir, and the church's women's group. She and Vilhelm were also active members in the New Smyrna Yacht Club where they held many parties throughout the years; most memorably their 50th and 60th anniversaries. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing card games, entertaining and spending time with her many friends. Her family will remember her most for her gentle soul, her strong will, and her zest for life. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Diane Angeleri and her husband John of Bedminster, NJ; her son Richard W. Jorgensen and his wife Jo Ann of Colorado; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held at a later date.
